About the workshop:
The two-day workshop will focus on recognizing and utilizing effective classifiers, placement, facial grammar and 3-dimensional space describing some general and complex human anatomy. Participants will practice a variety of human organs and their functions such as the organs and systems. Included will be some related diseases such as cancer and tumors (i.e. brain tumor, carcinoma, leukemia), and the differences such as between benign and malignant. The workshop is highly interactive where participants will be shown 3-D visuals of the human anatomy, presenter demonstrating, and then practice. Also, it is to promote and increase confidence in the utilization of ASL and its features, especially the use of classifiers and facial grammar in not only medical settings but in any settings. This workshop is designed for sign language interpreters working in, or interested in working in, the healthcare field.
